Mechanical Engineer II. Novi, MI. Design and develop mechanical conveyor systems for Airport Baggage Handling projects using AutoCAD 2D and 3D. Prepare detailed drawings for shop fabrication, layout final design, design/select conveyor equipment for power transmission, order equipment, develop mechanical commissioning plans, and participate in the commissioning of Airport Baggage Handling projects. Complete system designs, coordinate activities related to fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of systems. Ensure project deliverables meet the specified requirements while adhering to schedule and budget frameworks. Position requires 20-25% travel to airport project sites throughout the continental U.S.
Requires Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or related, and at least two years of experience in designing and detailing baggage handling systems and conveyors using 3D modeling tools such as AutoCAD, reviewing BIM models for clashes and proposing resolutions. Experience must include creating detailed drawings and structural systems for engineering approval, reading building drawings and applying head steel and sway bracing and performing field checks and assessments onsite for airport baggage handling system projects.
